What Actually Needs to Happen This Week?

I looked at this week this morning and realized there is more to get done than I have time for. I’m one person. Business is always moving and there is always more. It feels like a roller coaster at times that you never get off of. There are things I need to accomplish at work and at home, and then there is me and taking care of myself. Somehow this is what I put off.
This week looks like more than I can handle because I’m not feeling well. Maybe I’m coming down with something and maybe I’m not. Could be allergies. I need to feel better to face the week ahead.
First, I started with my espresso, water, collagen, olive oil and fiber. This will keep me full through lunch. As soon as I get to the office, I’m getting juice delivered from a local place. My go-to when I feel this way is a ginger shot and then a green juice with celery, cucumber, lemon, parsley and ginger. Maybe it’s a placebo effect, but if I feel better, I do not care why.
My instinct is to jump in and figure out how to get all of it done, but that is not always the right answer. So I start today with the question: What actually needs to happen this week?
There are a few things that must happen. They need the best of me, not whatever I have left over after trying to do it all and diluting the standard I expect from myself. Then there are things I would like to get done, things that can wait, even if I prefer that they don’t.
So this morning, the priorities are to work on feeling better and decide the things that must happen. I will maintain my standards for the things I must complete but lower the number of things I try to fit in.
At the end of this week, I would rather have completed the musts well than touched everything on my list and accomplished very little to the standard I expect from myself.
So that is my edit for the week.
Some things can wait, even when I would prefer they didn’t. Sometimes what I think needs to get done this week is really more of an argument with myself than something that actually needs to be done. It is taking the time to sort this part out and knowing the difference.
